St Mark has a long history of opportunities for women to gather together to grow in in faith and to make a difference in the lives of others. Here are a few of the opportunities that are available at this this time.
Throughout the year are opportunities for women to gather together to study and help others. The purpose of WELCA is: “As a community of women created in the image of God, called to discipleship in Jesus Christ, and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we commit ourselves to grow in faith, affirm our gifts, support one another in our callings, engage in ministry and action, and promote healing and wholeness in the church, the society, and the world.” Click here to learn more about WELCA and their ministry.
Currently, there are two women’s circles meeting each month for Bible study at St Mark.
Naomi Circle– 9:30 a.m. 3rd Wednesday of the month
Sarah Circle– 5:30 p.m. 3rd Monday at St. Mark for light supper and Bible study
There is always room for one more. If you would like to know more about the circles, email firstname.lastname@example.org
Throughout the year, women (and sometimes a guy or two) join together to make quilts to help people across the world. Once we make the quilts we send them to Lutheran World Relief: "Imagine the comfort and care you feel when you snuggle under a comforter or wear a piece of clothing made or worn by a loved one. That’s the feeling you share through an LWR Quilt. In a simple combination of fabric and thread, you reach out to people in their time of greatest need with a strong message of hope — you are not alone." Lutheran World Relief.
One way that you can make the difference in a person's life is by making a prayer shawl. Many of our prayer shawls go to those who are going through challenging times in their lives, and thanks to the warmth and comfort of a prayer shawl and prayer, they can experience God's love and know they are loved by others.
